DOMESTIC TRAVEL

Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief and Community Resilience Project  (June 5 - 15,  2018)

Nearly six months post-hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico has been forgotten. Camera crews and journalists are no longer in sight and efforts to help have weakened. Still, groups of people from around the world remain hopeful and are making an impact. In collaboration with Newark’s Shabazz High School students, the International Leadership Exchange Global Scholars come together with rural communities to create sustainable change.

Southwest Immersion Program  (June 17 - 24, 2018)

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this unique program offers an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the majestic land and cultural heritage of the American Southwest. At the Gulch, participants will be inspired by the world-class backpacking and hiking excursions in the pristine wilderness areas. Through our community partners, students will engage the old Puebloan structures, artisans from Hopi and Navajo communities and natural science of the southwest.

The Power of Sustainable Living  (Fall 2018: TBD)

During this unique program, students will travel to Marlow, New Hampshire for an immersion in sustainable life at the Kroka Village. Nestled in the beautiful backdrop of the New Hampshire landscape, students will engage a working farm where food is grown by the work of many hands, and homes are built from natural materials. At Kroka learning comes alive as students are challenged to engage the landscape while learning to become community engaged citizens and stewards of the environment.
