Rutgers University-Newark provides a number of dining options for our students.  Whether they are living on campus or commuting, students can take advantage of the various dining locations and meal plan options. 

Meal Plan

Meal plans are required for all first year undergraduate students living on campus.  Returning, transfer, commuter and graduate students may select any meal plan

Raider Dollars 

Raider Dollars are a convenient way to be cash free on campus. Students can deposit funds to their Raider Dollar account via credit card.  If you can only make a cash, check or money order deposit to your Raider Dollars account, please make an appointment via or 973.353.1274.

 How to Make a Raider Deposit/ Set Up an eAccount 

Raider Dollars are accepted at any on-campus dining location (except CLJ Cafe), the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Kite + Key, Pharmacy/Health Services, printing, snack and soda machines, campus housing laundry machines and at many off-campus dining locations.

What are Raider Dollars?

Raider Dollars is money you place on your RU ID Card. You can use Raider Dollars like cash on and off campus as a debit card. Any member of the Rutgers University–Newark community may make deposits to their Raider Dollars account. 

Funds carry over from semester-to-semester. It's convenient- you only have to carry one card; it's easy to track your spending and add funds to your card. The minimum deposit is $25.  There are no fees.

How do I create a Raider Dollars account?

To create a Raider Dollars account or add money to your Raider Dollars account you have three options: 

  1. Make a credit card deposit by setting up a Raider Dollars account at .
  2. Bring cash, check, or money order to the Dining Services Office
  3. Mail a check or money order to the Dining Services Office. Make the check or money order payable to Rutgers University. Include the student's name and Rutgers University Identification Number (RU ID).

Make checks or money orders payable to Rutgers University, including the students' name and Rutgers University Identification (RUID) number.

Once funds are posted, they are immediately available for use.

Do Raider Dollars rollover?

Raider Dollars roll over from semester-to-semester until your Raider Dollars account has been inactive for 18 months. At this time the account will be closed and the funds forfeited. 

If you have any Raider Dollars left as your graduate, make sure to buy one last book, shirt, coffee, snack or meal!

  • Safeguard your RU ID Card at all times.

  • Avoid storing your RU ID Card next to magnets

How can I find out my account balance?

You can create a Raider Dollars account at  This account allows you to check your balance and see where you have spent your money.  You can also ask any cashier for you balance or you can call, email, or stop by the  Dining Services Office

What do I do if I lose my RU ID Card?

To avoid unauthorized use of your account, report lost/stolen cards immediately. 

  • During business hours (8:30-4:30): Report missing cards to the RU ID Service Center and Dining Services Office
  • During non-business hours: Review information on the RU ID Card website and request your card be deactivated. At the commencement of business hours, you will then need to go to the RU ID Service Center to replace your RU ID Card. 

After replacing your RU ID Card, you will need to bring your new card to Dining Services Office to re-activate your Raider Dollars on your new card. 

The university's liability limit for unauthorized use on lost/stolen cards is $50.00.
