The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program fosters global understanding through educational and cultural exchanges. All exchange visitors are expected to return to their home country upon completion of their program in order to share their exchange experiences. J-1 exchange visitors are funded by a non-personal source (e.g. home government).

- J-1 Professor / Research Scholar Transfer-In (To Rutgers) Form
- If you are a department looking to request a DS-2019, please log in the RGlobal Portal to submit a request. If you need a log in for the RGlobal Portal, please request it through this link: sunapsis admin link. They will log in with their net ID and log in with your Net ID. Follow up with an email to OISS to outline your request.
- If you are a scholar or professor transferring your DS-2019, please log into RGlobal Portal to make your request.
J-1 Student
Students on J-1 visa study at a U.S. degree-granting post-secondary accredited academic institution, participating in a degree, non-degree, or student internship program. International students on a J-1 student visa are financially sponsored by non-personal sources. Rutgers – Newark hosts both degree and non-degree students on J-1 visa.
