Rutgers University-Newark provides a number of dining options for our students.  Whether they are living on campus or commuting, students can take advantage of the various dining locations and meal plan options.

Meal Plan

Meal plans are required for all first year undergraduate students living on campus.  Returning, transfer, commuter and graduate students may  select any meal plan.

Raider Dollars 

Raider Dollars are a convenient way to be cash free on campus. Students can deposit funds to their Raider Dollar account via credit card.  If you can only make a cash, check or money order deposit to your Raider Dollars account, please make an appointment by via dining.services@newark.rutgers.edu or 973.353.1274.

Raider Dollars are accepted at any on-campus dining location (except CLJ Cafe), the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Kite + Key, printing, snack and soda machines, campus housing laundry machines and at many off-campus dining locations.

What are Raider Dollars?

Raider Dollars is Rutgers University-Newark currency that allows you to add money to your RU ID and treat it like a debit card. Any member of the Rutgers University-Newark community may make deposits to their Raider Dollars account. 

Funds carry over from semester-to-semester. It's convenient! You only have to carry one card; it's easy to track your spending and add funds to your card. The minimum deposit is $25. There are no fees.

How do I create a Raider Dollars account?

To create a Raider Dollars account or add money to your Raider Dollars account you have two options: 

  1. Make a credit/debit card deposit by setting up a Raider Dollars account at RaiderDeposits.Rutgers.edu (accepting American Express, MasterCard, VISA).
  2. Bring cash, check, or money order to the Dining Services Office

Make checks or money orders payable to Rutgers University, including the students' name and RU ID number.

Once funds are posted, they are available for immediate use.

Do Raider Dollars rollover?

Raider Dollars roll over from semester-to-semester until your Raider Dollars account has been inactive for 18 months. At this time the account will be closed and the funds forfeited. 

If you have any Raider Dollars left as you graduate, make sure to buy one last book, shirt, coffee, snack or meal!

How should I best protect the funds in my Raider Dollars account?

  • Safeguard your RU ID at all times.
  • Do not lend your RU ID to others.
  • Avoid storing your RU ID next to magnets.

How can I find out my account balance?

You can create a Raider Dollars account at RaiderDeposits.Rutgers.edu. This account allows you to check your balance and see where you have spent your money. You can also ask any cashier for your balance, or you can call, email, or stop by the Dining Services Office

What do I do if I lose my RU ID Card?
Back to Top

To avoid unauthorized use of your account, report lost/stolen cards immediately. 

After replacing your RUID Card, you will need to contact the Dining Services Office to link your Raider Dollars and e-Account to your new card. 

The university's liability limit for unauthorized use on lost/stolen cards is $50.00.

How do I get started with setting up Grub Hub+

If you sign up for Grubhub+ and pay with Raider Dollars there is no delivery charge on orders over $18.

Getting started on Grubhub+:

  1.        Go to or download the Grubhub+ App
  2.        Select account
  3.        Sign in or create an account
  4.        Go to "My Account" and select “Campus Dining”
  5.        Find your Campus:  select “Rutgers University-Newark”
  6.        Add affiliation
  7.        Add campus card - input your netID and login password
  8.        You are ready to order!
  9.        When it’s time to pay, under payment options, select “Rutgers ID Card”

You can add Raider Dollars via the Grubhub+ App as well.
