Rutgers University requires full time and ALL F&J Rutgers Visa sponsored students to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan each semester. The health insurance premium is automatically added to the term bill each semester. |

Waiving?
Does your health insurance meet the waiver requirements?
If yes, you may complete the waiver form each semester before the deadline, to have the Student Health Insurance premium removed from the term bill. The premium is removed four business days after submission of the waiver.

If you failed to waive before the deadline, your enrollment in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) will be processed. You will then be responsible for paying the premium on the term bill even though you have other health insurance. Does your health insurance NOT meet the waiver requirements?
If yes, you may complete the enrollment form each semester before the deadline.
Paying the premium on the term bill is not enrolling. You should complete the enrollment form each semester to finalize the process. Be proactive and enroll before the deadline; do not wait for the “courtesy emails”. If you failed to enroll before the deadline and did not complete a waiver form, your enrollment in the SHIP will be processed.

Due to the enrollment process, in the SHIP after the deadline, your insurance card may not be available for a few weeks. Also, you may be at risk to pay out-of-pocket expenses for medical care including prescription medication. |
