SOAR/Placement testing updates per COVID-19

We are excited to have you attend our RU-Newark SOAR (Student Orientation, Advisement & Registration) Day. 

Please remember to complete the following items prior to your SOAR date:
  • Upload your photo to receive student ID card (if you have not done so already)
  • Register your vehicle for parking (you will receive an email with the link prior to your SOAR date)
  • Pack an umbrella & coat (in case of inclement weather)
  • Bring a wireless device (phone, iPad, etc.) to use during sessions (don’t forget your charger)

Plan to arrive between 7:30-7:45amlate comers will not be able to participate.  See below to further prepare for your SOAR day!

Preparing for SOAR
  • Review the pre-SOAR Rutgers Blackboard site to review information about getting ready for SOAR!
  • When you log into Blackboard, select the “RU-N SOAR Undergraduate Students 2019-2020” Organization under the “My Organizations Plus” section of your homepage
  • Pay special attention to the “Academics Module” of this site so that you can be prepared to register for courses during your SOAR day.
  • Check-in begins at 7:30am at the Paul Robeson Center (PRCC) located at 350 Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, Newark, NJ, 07102.
  • The program will begin promptly at 8:15am and will end by 5:00pmYou are expected to stay for the entire program.  If you know in advance that you will not be able to attend the entire SOAR day or need to leave early, please email to reschedule your SOAR date.
  • Please note that parents/family members/friends will not be permitted to participate in the SOAR program.  
  • Parking location and registration link will be emailed to participants with the registration link. Until this process is completed, your vehicle is NOT registered and you may receive a citation.
  • Students attending SOAR that may require accommodations are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Services (ODS) prior to their visit to campus. To begin the accommodation process, please complete the Registration Form on the ODS website by clicking here.  If you have a temporary injury or medical condition that will require accommodations while attending SOAR, please call the Office of Dean of Students at (973) 353-5063 in advance of your arrival on campus.
