Merit-Based (Admission)

In This Section

Merit-based scholarships are competitive and are awarded to first-year and transfer students applying for the fall semester, based on available funding. There is no set of “numbers” that will guarantee a scholarship or its amount. Merit-based award notification is subsequent to the offer of admission. No separate application is required and only students who qualify for scholarships are notified. Both New Jersey residents and out-of-state students are eligible. Awards may vary by school and are not transferable from school to school or outside of Rutgers University-Newark. Scholarship amounts are not negotiable.
