Rutgers University–Newark has several libraries that serve students and community members.
The John Cotton Dana Library
The main library resource on campus, the Dana Library offers 600,000 books, bound periodicals, and government publications; 600,000 items in micro-format; and 1,500 audiovisual items. As part of the Rutgers University libraries, the Dana Library also has access to tens of thousands of electronic journals and books in all academic disciplines. The Dana Library's gallery and exhibition areas host art exhibitions, while special events and concerts are hosted year-round on the fourth floor.
The Institute of Jazz Studies
Located on the fourth floor of the Dana Library, the Institute of Jazz Studies is the largest and most comprehensive library and archive of jazz and jazz-related materials in the world.
Other Libraries
In addition to the Dana Library and the Institute of Jazz Studies, major libraries for law and criminal justice are located in the Center for Law and Justice. Rutgers–Newark students and faculty can also take advantage of the resources of the entire Rutgers library system and the nearby Newark Public Library.
